Snapchat’s been around for a while now. Three times now I’ve tried to start building a community there and three times I’ve woken up the next day thinking, “fuck that.”

It’s a bad app. It just is. The usability is atrocious. It’s disorganized. It’s ugly. It’s hard to build a community. And I keep coming back to the question, “Why should I invest time building a following on Snapchat when I can get similar functionality out of other established platforms?”

The only thing I’d use Snapchat for is business. And the only part of Snapchat I’d use for business is Stories. But Instagram has Stories now. And it’s much better organized. And I already have a community there.

I know a lot of people are bullish on Snapchat. I don’t get it. I really don’t. I see it as another Vine. It served its purpose bringing some new ideas to the market, but unless things change in a pretty major way (like a redesign that doesn’t make you throw up in your mouth from a UX standpoint) I don’t see it surviving as an independent platform.

With that said, I’m sticking with Instagram. Follow me here.
